Job Description
WRT is seeking a talented Intern to join our Planning and Urban Design team in the Philadelphia office for Spring 2024.
To ensure that the issues and concerns most important to our clients are effectively addressed, we guide the development of projects through a process that depends upon a sound understanding of community values and aspirations, obtained through early and continuous citizen involvement, and a commitment to understanding the site-specific opportunities and challenges as a basis for strategic decision-making. We’re looking for a highly motivated candidate that shares WRT’s values and collaborative spirit to work on a variety of Planning and Urban Design projects.
Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00
Responsibilities include:
- Informing projects with design ideas
- Preparing visual communication graphics for presentations and engagement activities
- Conducting research in the communities where we work (e.g., history of place, past plans, current community needs and trends), developing and administering community engagement materials, providing quantitative and qualitative analysis, mapping, writing, and preparing presentations, and assisting with plan design and layout, including creation of infographics and communication materials
- Hands-on experience with active projects, proposals, and interviews
- Working with team members across the firm
- Meeting tight deliverable schedules
The ideal candidate will:
- Be enrolled in the second year of a master’s degree in Planning or Urban Design
- Have previous professional experience
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and interdisciplinary environment
- Complete tasks with some direction with strong attention to detail
- Possess exceptional written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
- Be creative, self-motivated, and interested in evolving planning issues such as resiliency and equity
- Be able to synthesize and simplify complex information and present it graphically
- Be proficient in: CAD (Rhino or equivalent), GIS, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator), rendering software (Lumion or equivalent), virtual meeting tools (i.e., Zoom, Miro, Jamboard, Menti, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Contribute at least 16 hours per week throughout most of the spring semester, around major academic deadlines as needed.
- Be able to work in-person at our Philadelphia office one 8-hour workday per week, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday preferred.
