ResponsibilitiesJob Purpose
The Aerobics Instructor is responsible for sharing their passion for health and fitness with others by teaching individual and group aerobics lessons. Aerobics Instructors enjoys interacting with members and guests to promote aerobic activities and classes. Under the direction of management, the Aerobics Instructor serves an important role in scheduling and coordinating member and guest aerobics classes and events.
Responsibilities
- Acknowledge, greet and thank all members and guests
- Facilitate aerobic classes and activities by instructing members and guests on proper form, principles of exercise physiology, warning signs or contraindications while performing aerobic activities
- Provide a safe, enjoyable and motivational atmosphere by demonstrating specific skills, techniques and procedures, instructing participants on proper use of equipment and developing routines with appropriate music and choreography for all skill levels
- Promote use of facility and programs by greeting members/guests sincerely and enthusiastically; maintaining an atmosphere that motivates long-term participation and member retention
- Maintain continuity of services by providing class coverage during absence or vacation, informing supervisor of substitute personnel at least two weeks in advance
- Adhere to safety guidelines and inspects exercise equipment regularly
- Handle member/guest service issues in a prompt and effective manner also notifying supervisor of member/guest concerns
- Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management
- Other duties may be assigned by management
Qualifications
Qualifications
- National certifications, current CPR and First Aid required
- Familiarity with aerobic steps, yoga mats, weights, Pilates equipment is required
- Experience coaching different levels
- Ability to communicate effectively with members, co-workers and management
- Valid driver's license required
Education
- Specialty/Technical Training required (High school diploma preferred) and 2 years of experience in aerobics instruction

Working Conditions
- Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
