Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Pediatric Physician provides comprehensive and high-quality primary care services to underserved diverse communities. Serves as a consultant to clinical management regarding clinical goals and services. Manage patient care in collaboration with other clinical staff and members of the care team. Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of Medical Department and the organization as well as supports the culture development and management efforts.
Essential Functions
- Provide direct patient care as a physician in the office, hospital, or other locations within the community as assigned.
- Includes at least one evening (until 8 pm) weekly and 1 Saturday (9 am - 1 pm) every 3-4 weeks (rotation).
- Act as consultant for referrals from other staff regarding patients within the specialty.
- Participate regularly in the 24-hour on-call rotation for telephone calls from patients.
- Comply with medical care standards including all applicable state and federal rules and regulations. Follow all applicable laws and standards regarding confidentiality.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement and Peer Review programs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- M.D. Degree, or D.O. degree from accredited school of medicine
- Board-certified or Board-eligible in Pediatrics or another approved specialty.
- Current and valid Illinois license as a physician and surgeon
- Current and valid DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate
- Eligible for, or maintenance of, hospital privileges at affiliated hospitals
- Bilingual ability may or may not be required based on individual department needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care
- Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
