Overview
Renowned for our expertise in fine art, antiques, motor cars, and jewelry, we are currently seeking a talented Photographer to join our studio based in New York City. As a Photographer at Bonhams, you will report to the Head of Photography, to capture images for our catalogues, advertising materials, and website. Your responsibilities will include studio and on-site photography, post-production, file management, and uploading images to our database. Additionally, you will manage photo lists, liaise with art handlers, meet deadlines consistently, and be prepared to travel as needed.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Photograph property for catalogues, advertisements, and website content
- Work in both studio and off-site locations, ensuring the safe handling of property
- Adhere to department standards and best practices for various sale categories
- Retouch images and maintain quality and consistency throughout
- Manage photography deadlines effectively
- Maintain and organize photography equipment and studio sets
Administrative Duties:
- Process and manage files efficiently
- Upload files to our company database
- Create and update photo lists as needed
In addition to these responsibilities, you may be assigned other duties by your manager.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional studio experience
- Familiarity with both Phase One and Hasselblad systems
- Proficiency in photographing a diverse range of property, including 2D and 3D artworks
- Knowledgeable about studio lighting techniques and catalog photography
- Experience using Capture One, Phocus, and Adobe Photoshop
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Passion for photography and a dedication to staying updated with industry trends
- Comfortable working with Mac platforms and skilled in file management systems
- Strong multitasking abilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent prioritization skills to consistently meet deadlines
- Physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs and engage in physical tasks throughout the workday
