Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant

Houston Cardiovascular Institute is seeking a full - time Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Medical Assistant:

· Perform vital signs

· Room patients, obtain medical, family and social history etc.

· Perform EKG and other diagnostic testing (stress test, hook up monitors etc.)

· Schedule and confirm diagnostic testing, procedures at the office and hospital

· Copy, fax and scan medical records

· Effectively communicate in a pleasant manner with patients, visitors, physicians team members, office team members and referring physicians

· Other duties as assigned

Phlebotomist:

· Collects specimens according to established policy and procedures

· Complete accurate data entry of patient information in a timely manner

· Process specimens and prepare for transport as required

· Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids in accordance with established policy and procedures

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum 1 - year Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist experience in a high - volume healthcare setting

· Phlebotomist Certification helpful

· eCW experience helpful

· Knowledge of basic medical terminology

· Knowledge of verifying insurance and obtaining authorization for diagnostic testing, procedures or medications

· Exceptional customer service-oriented attitude

· High School Diploma or equivalent

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
