Position Description:
The Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking to hire a Pharmacy Technician III position. The Pharmacy Technician III serves as a member of the Ryan White 550 Clinic Pharmacy Team and is supervised by the Clinic Pharmacists to ensure all Ryan White 550 Clinic patients receive appropriate medication, linkage support ,and long-term adherence counseling support as part of their interdisciplinary care team. The Pharmacy Technician III will work closely with all regional Ryan White 550 Clinic Providers, and Case Management staff to ensure eligible patients remain adherent to treatment objectives and active in care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as a liaison between 550 Clinic Providers and outside pharmacies including Kentucky AIDS Drug Assistance Program (KADAP) and 340B partner pharmacies to address concerns regarding medication/prescription in timely matter.
• Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to assist in verification of patient insurance information and requirements for prescription Prior Authorizations (PA) and aid in care coordination with clinical providers.
• Complete appropriate third-party Prior Authorizations (PA) using CoverMyMeds account and other processing system to expedite medications for prescribed HIV, PrEP, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, for all patients in care at 550 Clinic and minimize coverage gaps.
• Update patient profiles both in EPIC and in Ryan White Provide Enterprise Database system; submit billing; identify orders not on formulary that may be 340B eligible or require alternative co-pay program assistance, notifies pharmacist of updates to formulary, documents drug interaction and other identified problems.
• Review medication/vaccine requests with Medical Assistant/Providers, and correct any discrepancies that exist prior to submission requests.
• Responsible for helping patients apply for copay assistance programs and foundations and tracking packages when necessary.
• Serve as 1st contact for pharmacy office phone, assist Pharmacist in providing support regarding medication/patient care issues and appropriately escalate to Pharmacist as indicated.
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of 550 Clinic patient medications including sterile products, unit doses.
• Responsible for the accurate preparation and administration of appropriate vaccinations for 550 Clinic Patients.
• Responsible for monitoring clinic pharmacy medication/drug product supply and coordinates orders with Clinic Manager.
• Responsible for documenting National Drug Code (NDC) changes, update Ryan White Patient Clinic prescription medication pick-up list, document missed pick-ups and report to case management.
• Responsible for acquisition, preparation, and disposal of high-risk hazardous materials.
• Responsible for compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations pertaining to handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Participate as part of quarterly CQI team meetings regarding adherence performance measures to maintain Ryan White 550 Clinic standards of care and track individual patient needs to CQI Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Target Compensation Maximum:
$27.85
Target Compensation Minimum:
$18.56
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
