This person will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the pharmacy by working with the executive team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.
JOB DUTIES
- Participate in the development of the pharmacy's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing staff workflow; verifying their preparation, labeling and shipping of pharmaceuticals.
- Verifying order entries, charges, claims and inspections.
- Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
- Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, pricing, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the Board and senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of Summit Health.
- Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
- Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Evaluates the pharmacy footprint for opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements
- Improve the budgeting process on a continual basis through the education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
- Assists leadership in developing processes to effectively monitor day-to-day pharmacy operations
- Evaluate operational structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
- Maintains current knowledge of USP 797/800 and abides by all requirements
- Ensures compliance with local and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and corporate policies to drive effectiveness and consistency in operations
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a Pharmacy. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday with weekend work as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree and Doctorate in Pharmacy
- Licensed in PA to practice pharmacy.
- 2-3 years of related industry experience.
