Caterpillar is looking to add a Personnel Services Technician to the team to provide Human Resources services to meet employee needs in the areas of recruitment, retention, manpower planning, employee relations, training and development, compensation, and benefits. This position will also provide intermediate clerical and administrative support to managers and other staff to allow for more efficient operations. What you will do:
- Provide administrative support including maintaining calendar and coordination of appointments, meetings, receptions, and conference calls.
- Acts as focal point of contact for both internal and external sources. Responsible for the e submission and maintenance of expense books and tracking.
- Administers reimbursements accordingly.
- Provide more advanced administrative support and reports that involve data analysis such as budgets. Provide intermediate support to others in the work area on the standard or common operating environment hardware and software.
- Performs miscellaneous clerical functions as requested by the facility or Human Resource Manager which may include managing emails and written correspondences, prioritizing issues, maintaining organization charts, and assuring correct storage and filing of information. Prepares presentation materials as needed and reports on records retention, budget information, etc. Disseminate prompt and accurate information/announcements via email to employees for reference.
- Supports administration of HR policies and programs covering several or all the following: recruiting, compensation and benefits, orientation, employee relations and employee movements. Assists HR Manager by maintaining employee records, benefits administration (leave, medical, service awards, etc), EAP application, etc. Maintains and updates the HR information system (Workday) to assure data accuracy. Assists with performance appraisals, merit increases and bonus administration. Maintains and updates employee’s personnel files.
- Supports’ training plans by assuring enrollment/confirmation of scheduled training and coordinates internally and externally with training service providers.
- Organizes and coordinates company social activities.
- Monitors and assists in coordinating with supervisors the rewards and recognition program.
- Handles HR inquiries promptly and efficiently and assist in other HR related activities/programs.
- Incumbent must organize and expedite workflow through the supervisor’s office. Job duties require use of standard software programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to set up and organize spreadsheets including formulas and tying worksheets together.
- Supports and ensures all safety processes and initiatives are followed to maintain high standards of safety within the facility. Responsible for safety/environmental compliance. Performs other tasks as requested by Supervisors.
- The position's primary customers are internal. Incumbent spends over 50% of time on HR support related activities.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of technical school or junior college or the equivalent in on-the-job training and demonstrated secretarial skills gained through several years of experience.
- Requires knowledge of company operations and procedures, an understanding of facility methods of operation, and good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills, initiative, and ability to establish priorities, work independently, and multi-task are essential.
