Hourly rate: $36.89 - $53.50 plus 10% Per Diem differential
About the Women's and Children's Center:
- Approximately 60-70 deliveries per month
- Care provided to low and moderate risk LDRP patients
- Level 2 NICU and Pediatric services provided
- RT and Pediatric Hospitalist team available 24/7
- OB anesthesia provided by CRNA’s that are in house
- 1 Operating Room; 2 triage rooms; 14 LDRP’s; 8 NICU/Peds rooms
The Surgical Technologist participates as part of the surgical team in assisting nursing staff in support services necessary for safe and efficient care of patients within various areas of surgical services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs scrub duties for all specialties that may require surgical intervention.
- Protects equipment from damage/misuse; reports damage/misuse and or malfunction to appropriate personnel.
- Develops and maintains two-way communications with physicians, staff and management.
- Precepts and trains new scrub technologist and student technologist.
- Informs appropriate person to make changes on preference cards when requested by physician.
- Participates in new supply/equipment evaluation and implementation.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Required Education:
- Graduated from a Nationally Accredited organization educational program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES and obtain a national Surgical certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT within one year of graduation; OR
- Completion of a training program for Surgical Technologists in a branch of the armed forces of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and completion of 16 hours of continuing education as described in section (15) of this rule every two years to be tracked by department; OR
- Practice of surgical technology at least two years between January 1, 2014 and January 1, 2017 in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center or as an employee of a federal government agency or institution and completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two years to be tracked by department
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
- Obtain a national Surgical certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT within one year of graduation - if not eligible to practice under the armed forces training or had practiced for at least two years between January 1, 2014 and January 1, 2017
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required within 90 days of hire.
