Summary

The People Team Generalist will own NorthRock Partners recruiting and onboarding as we continue to grow our progressive culture. This position will rely on an individual’s expertise not only to create and define processes and procedures, but also to implement and manage day-to-day activities. In addition, this position will rely on an individual’s expertise to manage and oversee day-to-day payroll functions, benefits administration, and employment compliance. Accuracy and confidentiality are cornerstones of this position in addition to keeping leadership apprised on what our employees are paying attention to.


Essential Functions

  • Assist in the design and implementation of comprehensive and ongoing performance development.
  • Assist in recruiting process from initial phone screens to onboarding.
  • Evaluate and refine internal and external candidate sourcing channels and selection processes to improve results, enhance candidate and hiring manager experience, further digital capabilities, and focus on delivering against the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) charter and priorities.
  • Cultivate a positive candidate experience from application to on-boarding, including timely communications.
  • Strategize and develop measurable and objective selection materials and processes to create a high-quality and scalable interview experience.
  • Lead candidate debriefs with interviewers and business partners, voicing opinions and influencing offer decisions to secure top talent.
  • Maintain standards, policies and procedures, and data integrity with ATS, dashboards, and UKG.
  • Build onboarding experience and drive execution to ensure candidates are prepared, feel welcomed, understand corporate responsibilities and culture.
  • Ensure offboarding experience maintains corporate values and brand experience.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Answer questions and requests related to payroll information; research and correct payroll discrepancies.
  • Prepare, process, and distribute payroll-related reports and documents as required.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Assist in preparation of ACA (Affordable Care Act) data accordingly; aid in processing accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.).
  • Monitor changes and remain current on legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements (e.g., wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions).
  • Assist with open enrollment process including materials; Inform employees of benefit usage by preparing and distributing total rewards statement.
  • Resolve employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that retirement plan participants have accurate salary, status, and appointment histories so that appropriate benefits may be calculated upon retirement.
  • Send required eligibility and designation notices.
  • Communicate with People Team regarding return-to-work dates, exhaustion of benefits, eligibility requirements and accommodation requests.
  • Complete required regulatory and compliance reporting.
  • Perform essential unemployment and workers compensation activities including filling out UI and WC requests for information.

Required Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, communications, business management, (or equivalent) or commensurate work experience required
  • 3+ years Human Resources experience required
  • SHRM or HR-related certificates preferred
