ispace technologies U.S. is looking for a highly motivated and talented Senior Structural Analyst.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct structural analysis for lunar lander systems in a rapid development environment.
  • Create finite element models (FEM) from scratch while working with other members of the structures team to iterate designs which result in positive component qualification margins.
  • Develop test plans including component and system level static tests and dynamic tests (ie. random vibration, shock and/or acoustics).
  • Validate analytical models with application of industry standard first principles and hand calculations.
  • Develop customized tools to expedite finite element analysis (FEA) post processing per NASA and aerospace industry standards.
  • Thoroughly document analyses in terms of key assumptions, methods, and conclusions
  • Collaborate with members of other departmental teams, such as systems engineering, quality, assembly, integration and test.
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years' aerospace industry experience, ideally embedded in spacecraft development programs.
  • Experience with Nastran.
  • Experience with structural dynamics and strength analysis.
  • Knowledgeable of composite materials and analysis
  • Knowledgeable about mechanical design, material selection, and fabrication processes for spaceflight hardware.
  • Knowledgeable about environmental testing and correlation efforts.
  • Experience with dynamic analysis including random vibration, acoustics, and shock.
  • Proven track record building analytical models, processing data, and documenting associated results in support of design validation and system verification plans.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, including Atlassian.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education
  • Experience in spacecraft development programs.
  • Coupled loads analysis (CLA) experience.
  • Proficiency in Simcenter 3D (NX CAE), Nastran, Matlab, and Wave6.
  • Direct dynamic testing experience at both the component and the assembly level.
  • Experience with common industry standards for spacecraft environmental design and testing including, but not limited to, NASA-STD-5001, NASA-STD-5017, NASA-STD-5020, GSFC-STD-7000b and SMC-S-016
  • Experience working for Aerospace/Space Prime or sub-contractor strongly preferred
  • Experience in startup environment a plus

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced design and development environment
  • Schedule may vary depending on program development needs; flexibility required
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary based upon experience - $120,000 - $130,000. The salary posted is a targeted range for budget of position. Base compensation can be negotiated and will be commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training.
