Reports to: Senior Manager, HR Compliance and People Relations
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager of HR Compliance & People Relations, the People Relations Partner is responsible for establishing and developing trusted relationships with business Leadership, HR Business Partners (HRBP) and employees. Leads the day-to-day administration of employee relations matters, including consultation on ER issues for both employees and leadership. Facilitates initiatives to foster a positive employee relations environment that aligns with Paylocity’s values and culture. This is a newly created position within the HR Department and will work in close partnership with the Human Resources Directors and the HRBP team.

- In partnership with the HRBPs, research and develop an intake process for all Employee Relations issues.
- Handles and advises on performance management issues, including development of performance improvement plans/actions.
- Improves efficiency of HRBP and HR Generalists by handling core employee relations matters directly, and by providing clear and consistent guidance and solutions.
- Conducts routine investigations and recommends resolution for employee relations problems.
- Assists HRBPs with complex workplace investigations of associate complaints and grievances.
- Helps to maintain a positive employee relations climate by facilitating discussions or by providing consistent advice and guidance to managers and employees for problem resolution of work-related conflict.
- Assists with unemployment compensation hearings, return to work and ADA Interactive processes, in close partnership with HRBP and LOA specialists as appropriate.
- Coaches departmental leadership in carrying out their responsibilities on employee relations matters.
- Meets regularly with HRBP to advise of recent employee relations matters and review department specific analytics.
- Recognizes patterns and anticipates employee-related issues; Develops, recommends, and initiates appropriate steps for resolution in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Collects and reviews documentation for employee relations matters as appropriate for the situation and in accordance with legal compliance and organizational policies and procedures within our systems.
- Identifies and recommends retention strategies and positive employee relations initiatives.
- Reviews and provides constructive feedback on Corrective Action documentation and recommends the appropriate level of corrective action. Interprets Human Resource policies and procedures.
- Stays current on employment law. Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation, and avoid/eliminate exposure to the organization.
- Liaises with Legal Counsel as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of Employee Relations experience required, including conducting investigations from start to finish.
- Proficiency in ADA, worker’s compensation, etc. preferred.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation or equivalent, preferred.
- Significant experience in owning, handling and executing employee relations investigations and preparation of appropriate documentation.
- Experience providing employee relations support virtually to team members in multiple locations.
- Exceptional communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Diplomatic and ability to build relationships across the enterprise and at all levels.
