The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia is in search of a Pension Benefits Specialist. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Financial and Operations Systems (OFOS), Office of Pay and Retirement Services (OPRS). The incumbent is responsible for processing retirements for retirees, survivors and beneficiaries of DC police, Fire and Teachers Retirement Plans, the Federal Police Pension Program and Civil Service Retirement Program (CSRS).
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing pension benefit estimates and performing benefit calculations
- Verifying completion of pension benefit applications
- Verifying completion of CSRS applications and retirement contributions
- Gathering and validating appropriate documentation
- Processing Federal and D.C. retirement applications, death claim cases, requests for refunds and qualified domestic relations orders for annuitants
- Calculating death benefits for surviving spouses
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of progressive experience performing duties related to assessing, reviewing or analyzing data related to Pension Benefits, calculating service computation data to determine retirement estimates, and corresponding with plan participants to answer retirement benefit questions. Demonstrated working knowledge of pension laws and regulations.
