Peer Navigator- Wellness & Empowerment

The Peer Navigator supports agency-wide efforts that serve to further BOOM! Health’s public policy, advocacy, community organizing and communications priorities in alignment with the agency’s mission and strategic vision. The Peer Navigator will support the Access Health Initiative, which aims to increase education, advocacy, and access to healthcare, health insurance, and health literacy, particularly in the areas of HIV/AIDS, HCV, uninsured and underinsured population and drug policy

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:

• Conduct outreach activities to provide access health educational material to community such as program flyers and brochures.

• Document outreach, referrals and special events.

• Support events such as community meetings, workshops, and trainings.

• Assist AD & Coordinator with the Facilitation of Health Education Groups and Workshops in accordance with program deliverables (virtual and/or in person)

• Maintains connections with community social services agencies and providers.

• Works collaboratively with partnering agencies.

• Provide support to clients through shared live experiences (Communities of color (CoC, undocumented adults, HIV infection, HCV infection, substance use history, and/or mental health issues.)

• Participate in required and ongoing trainings

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Exhibits lived experiences of target population but has demonstrated exemplary path to recovery, with successful access to and retention in care and treatment; mirrors demographics of the target population – race/ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, cultural norms/beliefs.

• Familiar with community resources, specifically recovery oriented resources

• Commitment to advocacy and activism in the intersecting crises of mental health, homelessness, drug use, hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour
