Position Overview:

The Peer to Peer (P2P) Navigators are young adults that are able to harness their lived experience navigating foster care to work with, engage, and connect with youth currently involved with the child welfare system and are also a major part of the BraveLife initiative. Peer (P2P) Navigators must embody the belief that young people who have experienced adversity have unique strengths and skills that can be nurtured and developed in supporting their own healing and future success. This position will require the employment and involvement of trained young adults with lived experience in the juvenile justice or child welfare system. The P2P Navigators involvement is critical in the transformation of the foster care/child welfare system.

Position Qualifications:

Candidate must have at least an IEP diploma and have personal experience with the child welfare system or juvenile justice system in the areas of navigating the educational, employment, and housing systems and resources in Westchester County. GED or high school diploma is preferred. Must have basic understanding and computer literacy skills with Microsoft office such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must have basic organizational skills. Willingness to participate and engage in trainings. Must have experience and be able to navigate the public transportation system. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of culture, race and issues facing adolescents of color. Demonstrate ability to effectively use a multi-cultural approach in working with special needs youth. Ability to work as a team member and independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth and staff. Good oral communication skills. Ability to maintain communication logs. Ability to partner with professionals. Ability to work within a team and actively participate in supervision.

Salary Range: $18.68 Flat Hourly Rate
