Job Description
The Peer Advocate (CRPA or CRPA-P) will provide an array of services directly to patients in traditional and non-traditional treatment settings including:
- Identifying patients in need of SUD services
- Linking patients to formal recovery supports including inpatient and outpatient treatment.
- Raising awareness and linking patients to social and other supportive services.
- Modeling coping skills.
- Accompanying patients to medical appointments including outpatient SUD programs and inpatient detoxification and rehab programs.
- Providing non-clinical crisis support
- Educating patients to identify strengths as well as problem areas.
- Developing "recovery plans".
- Travel training - to use public transportation independently.
- Greeting patients in the waiting room and making them feel welcome.
- Outreaching patients via phone and in their community to re-engage in treatment including home visits.
- Accompanying patients to NA/AA meetings.
- Educating and referring patients for MAT services.
