SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Works both autonomously and collaboratively with the physician providing patient care and treatment to both patients and their families in a clinical environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Medical Assistant will take direction from the physician, as to their duties in patient care.
- Assure that all clinical areas are fully operational at the start of business hours.
- Prepares, stocks and cleans rooms before and after patient care, including trash, and any bio-hazardous waste.
- Accurately completes and maintains medical records, logging of vaccines and lot numbers.
- Provides general nursing care to patients.
- Administers vaccines, medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
- Maintains inventory of sterilized equipment and medical supplies.
- Sterilization of instruments.
- Performs QA, as indicated, daily and or monthly on equipment and diagnostic tests.
- Maintains strict infection control standards to ensure no cross-contamination.
- Performs various diagnostic tests/treatments including; Rapid Strep, Urinalysis, Tympanometry, Pulse Oximetry, Nebulizer treatments, and Oxygen, under Doctor’s orders and direct supervision.
- Assist physician with minor surgeries and procedures, including dressings and splint/bandage applications.
- Read tuberculin tests skin tests.
- Coordinate completion of School/Camp forms, Medication forms and Immunization cards from the Doctor.
- Maintains lab and diagnostic testing logs and necessary patient follow up.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory submission.
- Maintains inventory and ordering of supplies and forms needed for clinical operations.
- Participate in staff and educational meetings.
- Maintainsskills andknowledgebasethrough reading,training andotherstructured inservices.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality, adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Observes all CLIA, Cal-Osha, and Infection Control standards.
- Communicates with clinical, clerical and billing departments, providers, patients and families to ensure continuity of care.
- Communication skills(bothwrittenandverbal)suitable toexpressthephysical, mental, and emotional status of patients and families.
- Demonstrates excellent time management techniques.
- Worksin unison with other back office team members to allow for smooth operations.
- Completes the Daily Logs related to the patient care requirements stipulated by the management.
- Performs daily calls for patient recall efforts and logs process as directed by the management
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
