Job Summary
As a Data Engineer II, reporting to the Manager of Data Engineering at Lulus, you will build, automate, and scale one of our company's most important assets, our core data stack, and pipelines. You will work with a curious and collaborative team of engineers, analysts, and data scientists to connect data of all shapes, sizes, and speeds, automate routine complexity, and deliver elegant, useful tools that comprise the backbone of our information architecture. You will have the opportunity to work on projects spanning the entire retail value chain and drive meaningful impact for our users and our customers every day.

What You'll Do
- Build the core data infrastructure & systems used to feed insights to key business partners and connect ML models to customer-facing systems.
- Design, develop, and optimize our data pipelines from source to target, including integration, transformation, orchestration, end-point provisioning, and embeddings.
- Ensure a sharp focus on the scalability of our infrastructure and strive to build and maintain resilient processes that support platforms of insight that are accurate, 'always on', and able to keep pace with the speed of technology.
- Serve as a key technical liaison, collaborating with other engineers, analysts, and data scientists to solve web-scale data problems, experiment with new technologies, and deliver high-impact solutions that directly influence the customer experience.
What You'll Need
- Advanced SQL skills, including the design and optimization of complex queries, views, and functions across multiple database systems.
- Intermediate skills with Python, including solid experience with both scripted and object-oriented programming principles. Experience with scientific computing stacks is a big plus.
- Experience as a data-oriented software engineer who is skilled in the arts of data extraction, transformation, and loading from a variety of large-scale sources including relational and distributed databases, event streams, and 3rd-party services.
- Experience developing highly performant and robust code for mission-critical systems including monitoring capabilities, scalable interfaces, and always-on data pipelines, supporting both reporting and analytics/machine learning workflows.
- Intermediate to Advanced experience developing complex and time-sensitive ETL/ELT process flows for large-scale datasets.
- Problem-solving skills, a passion for data, and the ability to transform loose business requirements into impactful solutions.
- The ability to balance rigorous engineering standards with an iterative approach to delivering value to a variety of stakeholders.
- The love of overcoming complex technical hurdles while also simplifying and communicating your solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Intellectual curiosity and fortitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and experimentation.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment and adapt to rapidly changing strategies and priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or similar technical field and/or 2+ years progressive experience as a software/systems/Data Engineer required.
