Specializes as a Pediatric Medical Assistant
General purpose:
Responsible for completing a variety of medical/administrative related tasks in support of the medical provider.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
- Maintains stocks of medical supplies as necessary in the exam rooms.
- Interviews patients, and records information, including week of pregnancy, if apply, and document on patients' charts.
- Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
- Practices safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
- Performs standing orders as approved by department and in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Works and completes tasks in electronic medical record system in a timely manner.
- Translate when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Medical assistant certificate or training.
- BLS/CPR Certification.
- 0-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish/Creole).
- COVID-Vaccine mandated.

All three locations have laboratory and pharmacy services. MBCHC pharmacies have 340B pricing. Free medication is available for patients through pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs for those who qualify. Free transportation and translation services are also available for those who need them. In addition, we offer assistance with case management such as enrollment in health insurance from the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”), enrollment in Medicare, and Healthy Start prenatal services.
