Under general direction, this position serves as subject matter expert and escalation point for all tax-related activities. Using their extensive Payroll Tax knowledge, the Payroll Tax Analyst will consult with internal teams to reduce potentially significant financial exposure to penalty, interest and fees associated with incorrect filings for the employer and their employees.
As a Payroll Tax Analyst, you will be an integral member of the payroll team. Your attention to details, organizational skills, and demonstration of a sense of urgency are key attributes of this position. In this role, you will need an in-depth knowledge of multi-state taxation.

- Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of bachelors, 7+ years of relevant experience can be used.
- 3-5 years for work related experience required.
- Ability to manage tax errors by implementing corrective measures and penalties.
- Knowledgeable of payroll account general ledger reconciliation
- Provide ideas, solutions, and tools to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the Payroll Tax processes.
- Conduct Payroll Tax audits, handle overpayments,
- Proficiency in ADP SmartCompliance
- Intermediate Excel skills- (i.e. vlookup , pivot tables)
- Excellent research, analytical and data management skills
- Subject matter expert and escalation point for Payroll Tax-related activities.
- Works with internal teams, tax reporting/payment vendors, federal, state and local tax authorities to prepare and coordinate tax filings, ensuring their timely and accurate completion. May be responsible for system/application testing (i.e., upgrades, tax updates,) where applicable, may participate in HR system or payroll implementations and other payroll projects and process improvements for assigned payrolls
- Coordinates with, and provides oversight of the preparation of periodic and amendment tax reporting/payments with W2 vendors by managing daily, monthly, quarterly and annual Payroll Tax reconciliations
- Manages, researches and analyzes Payroll Tax matters to determine and resolve Payroll Tax discrepancies by collecting information, analyzing liabilities through the calculating of employees' income and taxes, and reconciling tax liabilities and payments
- Partners with the Finance/Accounting team to understand and address the varied business and information needs from both the finance and payroll perspectives while serving as the primary liaison to resolve other payroll reconciliation items as needed.
- Researches requirements and regulations of various federal, state and local tax authorities to remain complaint with governmental regulations.
- Participates in cross-departmental initiatives and works cross-functionally with other teams and vendors in the Benefits, IS, Leave Management and Finance/Accounting areas to ensure proper consideration of tax-impacting changes
- Provides back-up support for payroll processing functions to include the processing of payroll from end-to-end, enters and researches Kronos entries, calculates gross-to-net salaries considering deductions and withholding, overpayment processing, balance adjustment processing and payroll reconciliation reports.
- Coordinates with other Payroll team members and departments to ensure continuity of service delivery by providing direction, interpretation, training and problem-solving advice on issues
- Manages garnishment payments and reconciling of garnishment reports with assigned vendor
- Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor
