Seeking a Payroll Specialist who will take ownership of the payroll function and work in a high volume, fast paced team environment to process the Company’s bi-weekly payroll. Ability to make independent decisions using sound judgment and strong attention to detail is a must to be effective in this position. The ideal individual will have 5 years prior experience and a successful track record of processing accurate payroll for 200+ employees. Works under minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with all Wage and Hour Laws
- Process New hire onboarding and entering new hire data.
- Process payroll and ensure all payroll transactions are accurate and done timely
- Validate and reconcile payroll prior to transmission
- Validate ADP time and attendance processing
- Update and reconcile vacation and sick pay benefits
- Ensure all payroll related payables are processed in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all bargaining union pay policies
- Maintain employee records and ensure all payroll information is up to date
- Calculate and process deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
- Prepare reports on payroll expenses, taxes, and deductions
- Year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of recent Payroll processing experience
- ADP Payroll Services experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Office – Intermediate to advance Excel skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and regulations
- Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation and journal entries
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of technical accounting principles is a plus
- Working knowledge of payroll PTO accruals, reconciliations, 401(k) and worker’s compensation
- Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with business unit leaders
- Ability to communicate effectively on a written and verbal basis to various levels of internal/external personnel
- Attention to detail – very organized
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
