Payroll Specialist

Seeking a Payroll Specialist who will take ownership of the payroll function and work in a high volume, fast paced team environment to process the Company’s bi-weekly payroll. Ability to make independent decisions using sound judgment and strong attention to detail is a must to be effective in this position. The ideal individual will have 5 years prior experience and a successful track record of processing accurate payroll for 200+ employees. Works under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with all Wage and Hour Laws
• Process New hire onboarding and entering new hire data.
• Process payroll and ensure all payroll transactions are accurate and done timely
• Validate and reconcile payroll prior to transmission
• Validate ADP time and attendance processing
• Update and reconcile vacation and sick pay benefits
• Ensure all payroll related payables are processed in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with all bargaining union pay policies
• Maintain employee records and ensure all payroll information is up to date
• Calculate and process deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
• Prepare reports on payroll expenses, taxes, and deductions
• Year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of recent Payroll processing experience
• ADP Payroll Services experience preferred
• Proficient in MS Office – Intermediate to advance Excel skills
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes and regulations
• Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation and journal entries
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of technical accounting principles is a plus
• Working knowledge of payroll PTO accruals, reconciliations, 401(k) and worker’s compensation
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with business unit leaders
• Ability to communicate effectively on a written and verbal basis to various levels of internal/external personnel
• Attention to detail – very organized
• Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
