Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing weekly and biweekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payroll. This position should have a clear understanding of business policies and procedures and employ a continuous improvement mindset for all activities and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Process weekly and biweekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payroll across the business
• Ensure all payroll and legislative deadlines are met across payroll, managing exceptions as necessary
• Oversee payroll tax and other payroll accounting services with third-party partners
• Liaise with the external payroll team to ensure smooth payroll processes
• Track performance and measure operations to ensure that payroll delivers on requirements
• Keep up to date with statutory, legislative, and revenue impacts on the payroll environment and communicate to the team
• Support process improvement projects to enable productivity and customer satisfaction gains
Support internal business controls, ensuring SOX compliance and payroll data quality assurance
• Continuously improve payroll processes and validation
• Partner with Payroll Manager to ensure company SOPs are built, continuously reviewed, and updated
• Liaise between Payroll and Finance to resolve any issues and reconciliations
• Identify any potential tax implications of new hires
• Audit all payroll requests according to their level or criticality
• Follow up on any past due requests or when escalating issues
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Previous HR, payroll, or finance experience is preferred
Additional Qualifications:
• Must be action oriented
• Ability to work under pressure with speed and accuracy
• Ability to handle confidential/sensitive matters and situations
• Must be easy to approach and able to work with employees from all areas and levels of the business
• Must be customer focused; dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships quickly
