General Summary:
The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst will lead the end-to-end seamless payroll processing for the US and Canada from a payroll tax perspective. This will include assisting in the daily operational activities from extracting daily tax liabilities from OSV/Workday, partnering with ESGO, working with the tax department on opening new states and sending to our payroll partner for processing and remittance. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for setting up new tax jurisdictions and reviewing and approving tax agency notices as well as support the Flex@ Vertex policy. The Senior Tax Analyst will also respond to ServiceNow cases from our employees and other teams (HR, PWC, EY, Deloitte, MSI, WageWorks, Benevity, 401K), partner with our tax provider to ensure timely filing of our periodic tax filings, process W2s and W2Cs, proactively auditing our state tax panels to minimize tax issues for employees and participate in Year End activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze data integrity across entire payroll lifecycle; research and resolve identified discrepancies or process breakdowns specific to tax issues (pre and post Covid-19) and broadly to the payroll in connection to the recent changing tax landscape and application to the Flex@ Vertex.
  • Work closely with internal departments to support the new Flex@ Vertex policy, including the following departments: Stock Administration, Tax, Compensation, International HR, Payroll & International Accounting & G/L, Benefits, US – Accounting & G/L, People Experience
  • Process off-cycle payrolls for Stock Compensation income to comply with tax deposit rules
  • Assist the Stock Team in state to state and country to country tax issue
  • Review, analyze and verify payroll subject and tax audit reports for accuracy prior to completing payroll cycle
  • Adjust employee wage records prior to completion of payroll for state law consistency
  • Maintain current knowledge on US/Canada Payroll legislation and internal policies
  • Reconcile and verify accuracy of employee year-end tax documents
  • Review and confirm accuracy of all third-party tax payments and garnishments
  • Analyze and identify any payroll tax filing discrepancies and work with outsourced payroll vendor to correct any variances
  • Consistently review and evaluates all data to ensure appropriate tax is paid
  • Maintains accurate Payroll tax data including new tax rates and IDs for US and Canada payrolls
  • Build and maintain strong and cooperative relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Maintain third-party vendor relationships to ensure efficient business processes and workflows
  • Provide support/assistance to all US/Canada employees; respond to inquiries with discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet applications and related analytical tools
  • Activities related to acquisitions and mergers, from due diligence to payroll tax consolidation
  • Workday experience required
  • Experience with multi-state and local payroll processing
  • Familiarity with local taxes in OH, MD, and PA
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting, or equivalent work experience in payroll taxation
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of experience in US Payroll Processing and multi-state Payroll Taxation or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Canadian Payroll and Tax experience
  • Achievement of or interest towards Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
Pay Range: $77,600-$116,400
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
