Payroll Manager

Summary/Objective:
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for partnering with the Assistant Controller to ensure adherence of multi-state tax laws and to ensure accurate and timely payment to all employees. The Payroll Manager is accountable for the development of checks and balances in order to assure proper processing procedures as well as establish and enforce payroll best practices to be used company wide. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong attention to detail.

Essential function/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Process multiple weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees within multiple states. This is high frequency, time-sensitive work.
- Supervise and train two payroll specialists
- Maintain knowledge of tax rules and regulations that govern payroll administration practices and ensure that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Process payroll changes and other special transactions including new hires, terminations, transfers, rate changes, address changes, work location changes, and garnishments.
- Verify and ensure proper 401k Contributions & Benefit deductions
- Post Journal entries to reconcile all payroll accounts.
- Set up, process, and maintain changes to an employee's voluntary and involuntary deductions such as direct deposits, benefits and garnishments.
- Reconcile and calculate payroll adjustments, issue checks, process manual checks and void checks as needed.
- Support department managers and staff by answering payroll procedural questions, as well as researching and resolving payroll problems and discrepancies.
- Maintain employee information and pay Remittance to 32BJ, Local 1032, Local 670 and Local 808
- Work with HR department to collaboratively administer all company attendance and time reporting, benefits and payroll policies.
- Create new payrolls and work on corrections of Ceridian Dayforce Feeds.
- Manage Auditor requests, and provide reporting for annual audits.
- Monitor Overtime reports and provide monthly reporting to Executive Team.
- Assist with special projects as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with a preferred major in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Well versed in employment law, multi-state taxes as it pertains to payroll compliance
- Previous experience (at least 4 years) processing payroll
- Compliance in 401k plans, deferral contribution
- Must be proficient with Ceridian/Dayforce is a plus
- Yardi software experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently
- Ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), and follow-up effectively with all levels within the organization
- Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
- FPC or CPP certification required
Salary: $95,000-$100,00 annually
