MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma
Training in the processing of payroll or willingness to be trained as such
Comprehensive understanding of governmental accounting standards, eFinance software and third party financial service providers.
Advanced office-related technology skills deemed essential at the time of hire.
Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
Embodies high ethical standards/integrity and accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Salary to be determined by the Board. Full-time classified
position 260 days per year, 8 hours per day.
JOB GOAL:
A confidential employee who processes payroll transactions,
employee leaves and other personal materials with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the
Board’s policy on Evaluation for Classified Personnel.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs employee payroll/benefit functions and ancillary duties
that facilitate the timely attainment of district objectives. Keeps informed about program and procedure changes.
Collects and organizes information. Confirms data to prevent entry errors. Creates documents, maintains database information, prepares spreadsheets and develops program materials.
Process new employees, terminations and employment verifications.
Review Plain Local Board of Education minutes to note payroll authorization.
Assist with communications for the department and handle all payroll related mail.
Conduct important contacts with employees and the public using tact and diplomacy and handle routine payroll correspondence.
Process monthly, quarterly, annual, and any other payroll reports as requested by the Treasurer/CFO.
Maintain and prepare sick leave, personal leave, FMLA, and other leaves as required for district use.
Maintain established internal financial and payroll controls, prepare various statistical financials, all payroll reports and follow all tax laws.
Maintain an adequate system of filing, including personnel files, deduction files, audit files, payroll forms, general files, correspondence, etc.
Process all employee EMIS data as it relates to payrolls.
Process and verify all correspondence with regard to STRS and SERS.
Process all salary stipends, increment changes, and payroll deductions.
Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as directed.
Successful background checks and a pre-employment drug screening are required.
