Pay Rate: $35.00 per hour
Assignment Length: 6 months
Location: Marcus Thomas’ headquarters are based in Cleveland, Ohio
Schedule: Flexible schedule working around 40 hours per month

The role
Are you an experienced payroll specialist seeking a dynamic role within a progressive finance or HR team? Marcus Thomas LLC, a leading marketing agency, is thrilled to announce a newly created flex position that strikes a balance between operational excellence and service-oriented collaboration. As a Payroll Administrator, your key responsibilities will revolve around processing payroll, contributing to compensation planning, and addressing miscellaneous operational needs. Working closely with our highly collaborative and service-driven human resources team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a positive and supportive impact on payroll operations within the agency.

Payroll and Compensation Administration
- Administer accurate bimonthly, multistate, end-to-end payroll processing for 200+ employees, including data entry, calculation of wages, deductions, adjustments, and tax registrations in new states.
- Work directly with the payroll system and finance team to validate payroll registers and ensure accurate and timely salary disbursement.
- Verify timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant data for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with salary band creation and headcount budgeting.
- Provide guidance on payroll-related matters, such as tax withholdings, deductions, and wage garnishments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations, tax specifications, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain employee privacy and confidentiality – comply with HIPAA (this requirement is a deal-breaker.)
- Provide additional People Team support as needed.
Standard Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of payroll administration experience within a medium-sized organization (experience within the professional services organization is a plus)
- Expertise and experience with a variety of HRIS and payroll systems; Paycor experience a major plus
- Exceptional customer service skills coupled with a high level of professionalism; experience effectively collaborating with a wide variety of roles, people, and personalities, including insurance carrier reps, accounting/staff, fellow department team members, and co-workers (especially those in need of your assistance)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience navigating complex situations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Very good time and project management skills – great at prioritizing and juggling duties
