Job description
Our Patient Service Representative provides exceptional customer service and a high-level of hospitality, friendliness and organization - from a patient’s first impression at check-in to their last impression at check-out. The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the accurate input of all patient demographic and insurance data in our online system as well as collecting co-pays and balances based on data provided through our online account information system. They are expected to have open communication with the clinical and billing department. The Patient Service Representative acts as a patient navigator; ensuring accurate booking of patients, notifying the clinical team when patients arrive and when they are ready to start their clinical visit. Following the visit, the Patient Service Representative also ensures patients are prepared to leave their visit by scheduling follow-up appointments and ensuring patients understand expectations for communication of follow-up requirements from the clinical team. Below are basic requirements.
General Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office
- Eligibility and Benefits Experience; ability to generate estimates required
- Basic EMR/EHR experience
- Patient scheduling, reminder calls, and follow-up calls
- Must be a team player, able to follow directions, and eager to learn
- Integrity and accuracy when entering and reporting numbers, names, and results
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong computer, typing, and technology skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong phone skills
- Strong professional presence
- Positive attitude to maximize quality patient care
- Patient advocacy and conflict resolution skills for patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Bilingual valued
- Basic understanding and appreciation of the following and why they're critical in a successful clinic: HIPAA, OSHA, billing, collections, insurance referrals, authorizations, eligibility, benefits, deductibles, out of pocket, and co-insurance details.
