Responsibilities
Must live near Rochester campus and will be required to be on campus up to 4 times a month.
The Patient Placement Coordinator works closely with hospital personnel to facilitate bed and service assignment. Works to optimize patient flow in the hospital by prioritizing admissions and transfers from multiple sources. Demonstrates flexibility and initiative to diagnose issues and provide timely resolution supporting patient safety and process efficiency. Responds to a variety of requests from hospital staff in a fast-paced environment, makes independent decisions that require individual and/or team analysis, reasoning and problem solving. Interprets, applies and communicates Mayo Clinic policies regarding hospital patient flow to support the timely admission and transfer of hospital patients. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills as well as possess the ability to multi-task, apply critical thinking, and possess effective communication skills.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent, AND A minimum of four years of relevant experience in finance, collections, customer service, insurance and/or health care environment OR a bachelor's degree is required.Bachelor degree in business or health care field preferred. Qualified candidates must be customer-focused, service-oriented and possess demonstrated skills in teambuilding, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, interaction, coping and versatility. Knowledge of personal computer applications such as Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, medical terminology, Order Communication System and patient accounting system is helpful. N/A
