Description
JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct Patient Care within an assigned unit, under the direction of a licensed nurse, and other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (* = Essential Functions)
- Assists in data collection including patient vital signs, weights, and finger sticks. Reports unusual occurrences to the licensed nurse.
- Ensures that the unit is stocked according to established par levels with all required equipment and ready to care for patients.
- Completes all required documentation in the EMR.
- Communicates in an effective and courteous manner with all co-workers, patients, visitors and providers as outlined by ERH Standards of Behavior.
- Interacts professionally with patients and their families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary within the scope of practice
- Maintains infectious control measures as ordered for contact precautions.
- Rooming patients (interview patients and record medical history)
- Prepare and clean exam rooms for patients
- Measure vital signs, obtain blood sugar readings
- Assisting providers with in-office procedures
- Assisting providers with paperwork and forms
- Answering phone calls

Hours: Full Time, day shift. Monday - Friday. Some Saturdays required.
Salary: Base salary of $17.67 - $20.17 per hour based on experience. Then add $2.00 per hour for C.N.A., P.C.T. or E.M.T certification.

Requirements
EXPERIENCE
- NYS Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic, with a minimum experience of one year in a hospital setting preferred
EDUCATION
- High School or equivalent. Enrollment in Associates in Nursing Program or other medical related field preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- BLS certification required
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with care givers, other employees and the general public.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow detailed verbal, written and illustrated instructions.
- Effectively operate various office equipment including copier, fax machine, computer and phone system.
- Ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations
- Must possess effective communication skills
