Patient Accounts & Disability Clerk - Signature Medical Group
Position Summary:
We are looking for a patient access representative to be the first point of contact for patients and assist them in obtaining medical care. The patient access representative's responsibilities include collecting patient details, preparing admission and discharge documentation, explaining policies and procedures, and handling patient queries, concerns, and complaints.
Responsibilities:
- Processing payments from patients and handling billing issues between patients and insurance companies
- Review and explain Patient Accounts with patients
- Call patients for payments, collect payments over phone and in office
- Calculate estimates for patients
- Complete disability forms & update disability companies with medical records
Minimum Qualifications:
The basic education and experience required for being a medical biller are:
· A high school diploma.
· A minimum of one to three years of experience in a medical office setting with basic knowledge of insurance claim terminology and processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Should have a good knowledge of insurance guidelines as well as schemes like HMO/PPO, other payer requirements, and systems.
· Should be competent enough to use computer systems, software, and basic office equipment such as scanners, calculators, and printers.
· Must be familiar with CPT and the latest coding guidelines.
· Should possess good communication skills and must be able to handle and resolve issues of patients and insurance payers.
· Should be comfortable to be a part of the team and work in a team environment but also be a self-starter and able to work independently.
· Should be able to prioritize the tasks and handle multiple situations.
· Should have a problem-solving aptitude and readiness to work on resolving discrepancies.
· Should have a sound knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
· Should be able to maintain patient confidentiality as per the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996).
Job Type: Full-time
