Job description

Lauderdale Yacht Club is Private Club open to Members and Guests only near downtown Fort Lauderdale focusing on a family friendly experience for its Members and Guests. We provide food and beverage services, (fine dining and upscale casual dining) social activities, with sailing, tennis, fitness center, an Olympic size swimming pool, and summer camp and other activities for children. We are a Platinum Club of America and a Platinum Club of the World.

We are looking for someone to add to our culinary team and assist our Pastry Chef. If you are hospitality focused and passionate about providing quality desserts, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your Resume highlighting your relevant pastry experience.

  • Full time Position with Benefits.
  • Mid Shift Work Schedule generally five (5) days per week approximately 10 AM to 6 PM or 11 AM to 7 PM.
  • Hours may vary based on events scheduled, but include weekends and holidays.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
  • BACKGROUND SCREENING AND DRUG TESTING REQUIRED WHICH INCLUDES MARIJUANA.

JOB SUMMARY (Essential Functions):

The Pastry Assistant’s main functions are to assist in the planning and executing of the dessert menu. It is the Pastry Assistant’s responsibility to make sure all desserts are consistent, meet company standards, and are presented to guests with the highest level of quality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or General Education Degree (GED) required with a Culinary Degree Preferred.
  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent reading ability, people skills, and hospitality orientation required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Assisting the Pastry Chef with planning and executing the dessert menu.
  • Assisting with the development of new designs and recipes.
  • Testing and tasting recipes.
  • Properly following each recipe to company specifications.
  • Measuring and mixing of ingredients.
  • Regulating cooking temperatures.
  • Replenishing station as needed.
  • Notifying Pastry Chef of low inventory items.
  • Setting time cycles for products.
  • Assisting with organizing all areas of the kitchen, maintaining deliveries and cleanliness of areas.
  • Working knowledge of all Pastry Assistant functions in the kitchen.
  • Maintaining and cleaning workstation.
  • Following strict health and hygiene standards.
  • Safely and efficiently using kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for following HAACP guidelines set by BOH management.
  • Promoting teamwork and interacting with employees in a fair and professional manner.
  • Maintaining knowledge of and practicing the company’s mission and vision, policies and procedures, and employee handbook.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive, safe and healthy work environment.
  • Acting as a role model and leading by example in terms of professionalism, positive attitude, taking initiative, work ethic, work performance, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

1. Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions.

2. Must be able to bend, stoop and reach.

3. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

4. Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (normally up to 8 hours and possibly more at times).

5. Must be able to tolerate working in hot and cold environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
