Position Summary
Join a spirited and growing School of Public Healthdedicated to serving an economically, socially, and culturally diverse studentbody and faculty that seeks to train the next generation of public healthleaders. The University of IllinoisChicago (UIC) School of Public Health (SPH), located in vibrant Chicago, isseeking to fill the role of PassaroFamily Professor in Global Health and Associate Dean for Global Health, toserve as a dynamic leader in the School. The mission of the program is to leadefforts and foster effective collaborations to promote health and well-beingand reduce suffering worldwide. The Passaro family has long been among the most generous donors to the UIC SPH.In 2005, they created the Douglas Passaro Global Horizons Scholarship tohonor the memory of Dr. Douglass Passaro, a School of Public Health professorwith a passion for Global Health who passed away at the age of 43. Throughtheir continued generosity, the SPH now seeks to appoint an endowed PassaroFamily Professor and Associate Deanfor Global Health who will expand itsresearch portfolio and take a lead in growing a vision for Global Healthresearch, education and practice and fostering population-level healthsolutions worldwide.
The Global HealthProgram supports and leads researchers, students, and practitioners tocreate sustainable and improved health in global and globally impactedsettings. SPH faculty and students engage in a wide variety of Global Healthresearch, teaching, service and practice activities. The Passaro Family Professor and AssociateDean for Global Health will provide leadership in expanding the programmaticvision for the SPH Global Health program and mobilize strategic plans forbuilding the program into a nationally and internationally recognized hub ofglobal public health educational and research excellence. The position willhold a concurrent tenured faculty appointment with an open rank (associate orfull) in one of the following four Divisions of UIC SPH, commensurate with theacademic background of the candidate: i) Environmental and Occupational HealthSciences; ii) Epidemiology and Biostatistics; iii) Community Health Sciences;or iv) Health Policy and Administration. Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in public health, medicine, nursing or a field related to Global Health and Development required;
- Proven leadership skills and qualifications for a rank of associate or full professor;
- Strong commitment to developing research and training in global public health;
- Established national/international reputation in Global Health research, teaching, and/or program implementation;
- A successful record of competitive extramural funding, that includes Global Health, with preference for those with active funding in Global Health;
- Demonstrated administrative experience.
