Part-time, Temporary, and Per Diem Kitchen Staff

IMS offers meditation retreats rooted in the early Buddhist teachings of ethics, concentration and wisdom. A position at IMS offers an $18.50 starting wage, flexible schedule and a friendly and caring work environment.

We are seeking Part-Time, Temporary and Per Diem Kitchen Staff to support our retreatants, teachers, and staff by maintaining a safe and nourishing silent retreat environment. Work with skilled professionals in excellent working conditions to turn fresh, quality ingredients into healthy, delicious meals. Part-Time, Temporary and Per Diem Kitchen Staff enjoy flexible schedules that work around their needs.

Primary Responsibilities

● Prepares and serves homemade, high-quality vegetarian meals.

● Maintains a clean, orderly, and efficient workplace.

● Washes pots, cleans floors, and Performs other cleaning tasks.

● Performs support cook duties including food preparation, cleaning, organizing, and special projects.

● Ensures work environment meets or surpasses hygiene and safety standards.

● Required to work varying shifts as scheduled, may include weekends and holidays, as well as evenings.

● Requires some heavy physical work, including standing for long periods of time, as well as lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

● Supports and protects silent retreat environment; upholds ethical principles.

Qualifications/Experience

· High School degree or equivalent

· Professional food service experience preferred. Cooking experience helpful, but not necessary. Training provided.

· Must have schedule flexibility to work irregular shifts as needed

· A customer service background with a commitment to providing a high level of service

Starting wage for Kitchen Staff is $18.50/hour.

This position offers flexible hours. Shifts available between 6:00am-6:00pm. Work hours worked will vary.
