About us:

Walter's is a leading provider of waste collection and recycling services to both the public and private sectors in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We are a family-owned and operated business started in 1988 with a fleet of over 100 diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) powered trucks and provide over 100,000 services per week.

About the Role:

The Part-time Scale Attendant will serve as the first point of contact for our customers depositing waste at our transfer station. Core work hours 11:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday; longer hours may be needed to cover for vacations and sick time. Scale house is open from 5:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Some Saturdays (6) will be needed when holidays fall during the week.

Responsibilities:

• Quote customers for drop off items and take credit cards payments check loads and ensure the safety of the customer and other employees through observation of safety rules and regulations.
• Assist with efficiencies and customer service at public drop sites.
• Identify, research and resolve customer issues using computer systems.
• Ensure full or partially full boxes at both facilities are emptied in a timely manner, avoiding overflow.
• Audit monthly disposal tickets.
• Perform quarterly and annual reporting of tonnage to cities and counties.
• Scale in and out trucks.
• Assist dispatch as needed, including ensuring containers are empty onsite
• Manage scale customers – assist with opening accounts and maintaining scale database.
• Coordinate disposal of electronic products (batteries, cell phones, etc.)
• Direct customers to correct drop off location.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• HS Diploma/GED
• 1+ year of relevant experience in customer service or operations, waste industry experience preferred
• 1+ year of working in an office setting
• Computer literacy & the ability to quickly learn new programs (MS Office, Routeware, Tower, Scale, UKG, and other software)
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, servicing customers using technology without getting flustered
• Experience working in a safety sensitive environment preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed in a climate-controlled company. Employees operate standard office equipment including: telephone, headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, and copier/scanner. Physical tasks of job include: walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
