Job description

  • Guided Tours: Guides will be given reading materials and training which they will utilize to give entertaining and engaging guided tours of the building to guests. Tours will cover all areas of the building depending on what is available. Guides will be expected to learn about the history of Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry, significant people, and other relevant subjects.
  • Greeter: Welcome guests as they enter the Ryman lobby, handling questions and scanning tickets. The Guide will direct guests upstairs to begin their tour, also making them aware of how to access the elevator (as needed). In event of a load-in, Guides will work with the security guard with directing guests through the lobby in a safe manner.
  • Podium: Greet guests as they enter the upper lobby, directing them to the start of their respective tours (Self-Guided/Guided). Answer any questions guests may have. Direct the flow of museum traffic through the upper lobby as needed.
  • Soul of Nashville: Seat guests in Soul of Nashville theater, minding capacity and ensuring guests are seated safely. Guide is responsible for starting the film for guests, explaining photography guidelines, and must stay in theater for the duration of the film to attend to guest's needs and ensure the film is running properly.
  • Ask Me Station/Floating Position: Guides will be available in the lobby/auditorium (as needed) to aid guests seeking directions to other landmarks, museums, hotels, local eateries, and other points of interest within the Nashville community, as well as building history. Guides will be given reading materials which they will study to provide guests with proper historical insight towards the history of Ryman Auditorium.
  • Set-up/Tear-down: Guides will be expected to prepare the building for museum hours by setting up museum materials at the beginning of the shift. Guides will also be expected to take down materials at the end of the day.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education:

  • High School diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

  • Public speaking skills.
  • Good oral and listening communication skills.
  • Minimum one year experience in customer service preferred.
