Job Duties:
- Observing during specimen collection of male basic trainees.
- Ensuring collection is properly sealed, labeled, and has not been tampered with.
- Ensure that secured empty specimen bottles are available and that each is original, clean, free of holes (devoid of any visible debris), and properly prepared.
- Designate an observer, who is the same sex as the male BMT. Transgender members are to identify themselves as to their preferred gender if they have not fully transitioned. Observers shall receive an oral explanation, as well as a written statement signed and dated prior to each collection evidencing their understanding of their observer duties and evidencing their participation in drug testing collection on that date. The signed statement will be placed on the Contracting Officers Representative’s desk at the end of collection process.
- Distribute the urine specimen bottle to the BMT after checking the BMTs picture Identification, and verifying their social security number (e.g., common access card, military identification card, civilian photo identification, a driver’s license or social security card or a signed flight roster) to ensure the identification matches the bottle label.
- The BMT verifies identifying information (SSN) on the bottle label. The observer will open the cap for the BMT to inspect the specimen bottle to verify it is empty and clean. The observer will place the cap on the bottle and hand the bottle to the BMT. The observer will instruct the BMT to carry the specimen bottle in clear view of the observer at all times.
- Required Specimen Bottle Information.
- The Contractor ensures that all urine specimen bottle labels contain the following information legibly annotated.
- Collection month, day and year.
- Base accession number, ensuring the proper prefix correctly identifies the status of the BMT (e.g., B-Air Force Trainee’s).
- All digits of submitting BMT’s social security number.
- The BMT’s initials, thereby certifying the authenticity of the specimen, correctness of the Social Security Number (SSN), and the witnessing application of the tamper resistant tape.
- The observer’s initials and the collector’s initials the bottle label.
- Required Ledger Information.
Experience:
- Shall have 6 months experience providing patient care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home or other medical, nursing or patient care facility, or in such as that of a home health aide performing duties such as collection of specimens. Technical school training may be substituted for 6 months working experience. Experience may be substituted with military experience as a drug-testing monitor.
- All contract personnel shall be familiar with medical protocols for the collection of specimen collections and their informed consent requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Copy of your Medical Assistant Certification OR, Copy of your Education, High School Diploma
- Covid Vaccinated
- Able to pass a background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Being able to carry 20 pounds
- Walking up and down several flights of stairs
- Standing for long periods of time
