The duties associated with this role encompass:
1. Evaluate current practices and policies to determine their alignment with equity and Diversity goals.
2. Develop and execute innovative strategies to enhance compensation, promotion, retention, performance reviews, and other employee resources.
3. Create and implement inclusive recruiting and hiring tactics to attract diverse talent.
4. Facilitate internal and external training sessions to address staff and organizational development needs.
5. Coordinate annual performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching for performance improvement.
6. Communicate industry and legal updates related to Human Resources, ensuring staff compliance.
7. Manage benefit programs in accordance with employment laws, including FMLA, unemployment, and L&I claims.
8. Foster an environment of equity and Inclusion, providing guidance and support to staff regarding race equity matters.
9. Address and oversee inquiries regarding discrimination and harassment.
10. Assess and modify organizational procedures to address disparities experienced by BIPOC employees in comparison to their non-BIPOC counterparts.
11. Establish, facilitate, and promote employee resource groups.
12. Conduct interviews, surveys, and meetings with staff to propose improvements in organizational culture and inclusivity.
The successful candidate will have a combination of the following:
1. Required experience in Human Resources and DEI, with a minimum of six years in HR or related fields, including at least three years of involvement in diversity and equity justice, anti-discrimination, or social justice initiatives. Whilst we welcome applicants with formal qualifications to apply, we also encourage those with no formal qualifications but 9 years of experience to apply, as we value diverse perspectives and expertise.
2. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners across age, race, ethnicity, gender orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, religion, and culture.
3. Proficiency in working within an organization actively addressing equity issues and aiming for community representation.
4. Capacity to maintain confidentiality for HR-related matters and develop tracking tools for record-keeping.
5. Skilled in composing reports, proposals, and other business documents for internal and external distribution.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including dispute resolution abilities.
7. Knowledgeable about federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
8. Familiarity with diversity and equity literature, frameworks, and practices.
9. Strong organizational skills, attention to details, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
Education Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in a Human Resource/Business Administration related field is required. Beneficial courses include conflict management, industrial psychology, and sociology.
Salary range: $80,000 (pro-rated depending on the number of hours agreed to.) This position is part-time, can be 21 to 24 hours per week.
