Apply Now Job Advertisement The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Part-time Code Enforcement Officer in the Inspections Department. This position is responsible for enforcing the City of Hinesville Code of Ordinances and adopted codes in an effort to protect property values, decrease crime, improve safety, and to support, protect and enhance the overall quality of life of the citizens of Hinesville.
The position requires working extended afternoon hours at least one day out of the week and working at least one Saturday out of the month. Major duties include receiving and responding to complaints and inquires from the general public, City Officials and other agencies regarding possible code violations; issuing violation notices for code violations; maintaining a cloud-based online database documenting all actions, violations, documents and evidence; and preparing court documents such as rule nisi, inspections warrants and request for subpoena of witnesses. This position enforces the sign ordinance, while investigating zoning issues, nuisance concerns, and property maintenance concerns.
The position is also responsible for investigating concerns while documenting, preparing and presenting cases in Municipal Court, and processing liens for the City of Hinesville. The Code Enforcement Officer confers and works closely with property owners, tenants, neighbors, property managers, realtors, homeowner associations, mortgage companies, property preservation companies, inspectors, business license personnel, fire marshals, police officers, animal control officers, sanitation department personnel, street and drainage department personnel, zoning officials, city officials, other departments and agencies. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office, have the ability to read maps, and be an effective communicator, mediator, researcher, problem solver and educator of the codes and ordinances.
A high school diploma, Georgia Drivers License and the ability to readily obtain the appropriate required certification for the type of inspections conducted are required. The hourly rate of pay is $17.06/hour. The position closing date is Monday, January 2, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
