Location: Student Services/Special Education Dept. - District Office
Typical Work Activities:
- Attend CPSE or CSE meetings to take meeting minutes, distribute post meeting paperwork.
- Coordinating, monitoring and filing special education records, files, activities and reporting.
- Providing assistance with routine questions related to the office processes.
- Responds to a variety of program-specific inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties.
- Data entry and maintenance of program data.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma including or supplemented by a course in typing.
NOTE: Office clerical experience, including typing, may be substituted for the high school requirement on a year for year basis.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
Special Requirements: Working knowledge of office terminology procedures, and equipment; working knowledge of business arithmetic and English; ability to type from clear copy or rough draft at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to write legibly; clerical aptitude; mental alertness; neatness, tact and courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff and business people;
- Must have excellent phone etiquette skills;
- Must have excellent organizational skills;
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point is required;
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to greet public in a pleasant and professional manner;
- Is familiar with and contributes to the successful implementation of the District's Mission and Belief statements;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite to accomplish a variety of clerical tasks;
- Regular attendance is a must.
- Applying and using word processing applications, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.
- Exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Customer service and human relation skills in assisting and applying proper phone etiquette and discretion working with the public and district personnel.
Preferred:
- Attention to detail, problem-solving and good organizational skills.
- Able to be part of a team in a high paced work environment.
- Previous school district experience preferred.
Reports to: Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher ranking employee, who gives detailed instructions for new assignments and practices.
