Job Description:
- Complete daily duties including feeding the cats, administering medications, cleaning enclosures, laundering cat bedding, toys and dishes and cleaning and organizing the cat areas of the shelter.
- Monitor the general health and welfare of all CTSPCA cats through direct observation or by reported observation from employees and volunteers. All animals should be clean, well-fed, disease free and provided adequate kennel conditions. Ongoing habitat designation should be designed to minimize spread of disease and animal stress.
Requirements:
- At least 3 months basic experience in handling and caring for cats.
- Veterinary technician skills such as administering topical and oral medications, and the ability to perform vaccinations, blood draws and worming is highly desirable but not required.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills with specific emphasis on animal medical and behavioral documentation.
- Ability to self-direct, prioritize and time manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work weekends, if needed.
- Timeliness with a high degree of dependability.
- Must be able to be on feet (standing/walking) for entire shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs periodically and 10-15 lbs regularly. Must be able to stoop, reach, lift, and squat.
- Shift requirements are 8:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.
- 2 days a week, Mondays & Fridays.
