Horse Trainer/Caretaker

```Job Summary:

We are a small family farm with 14 horses. The horses are primarily used for trail riding & barrel racing. We are looking for a full-time caretaker that will work with the horses, exercise, and train the horses. We have a few that are green and are expecting several babies this year.

The successful candidate must exhibit the ability to safely handle studs in a non-threating, non-aggressive manner.

We do not have housing available, so this will need to be someone local to the Grandview area.

Must have experience with references. An onsite job interview will be conducted for final selection.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement training programs for horses based on their specific needs and goals

- Use positive reinforcement techniques to teach horses new behaviors and commands

- Assess and evaluate horses’ progress during training sessions

- Provide daily care and maintenance for horses including feeding, grooming, and exercise

- Monitor the health and well-being of horses under your care

- Collaborate with other trainers and veterinary staff to ensure the overall welfare of the animals

- Maintain accurate records of training sessions and animal behavior observations

Requirements:

- Previous experience is required

- Knowledge of horse behavior and learning theories

- Strong communication skills to effectively work with horses and their owners

- Ability to handle horses of various sizes and temperaments safely

- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting or prolonged standing

- Familiarity with veterinary practices and procedures is a plus

- Certification or formal education in horse training or related field is preferred

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
