Part-Time Bookkeeper

Hingle & Associates (Steve Hingle, CPA) is a sole practitioner firm serving nonprofits that use QuickBooks. Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant position works 15 - 20 hours per week; flexible schedule - mostly during bankers' hours; all remote work; some paid time off. The firm is located near Madison, Wisconsin, but residence in Wisconsin is not required.

Duties:

• Bookkeeping for multiple charitable organizations using QuickBooks Online. Downloading bank and payroll information, entering and paying bills, cutting checks, entering ach transactions, credit card transactions, customer invoices, sales receipts, receiving payment on invoices, entering deposits, entering PayPal deposits, reconciling all bank accounts and credit card accounts. Budget input at beginning of the year.
• For those with more experience, there would be opportunity to work on cost allocations, month-end close, account analysis and adjustments, preparation of financial statements, and preparing schedules for auditors.

Qualifications:

• Experience bookkeeping with QuickBooks Online
• Good understanding of debits and credits and general accounting
• Experience with complex Excel spreadsheets
• Ability to juggle multiple projects – prioritizing, communicating, and keeping commitments
• Ability to account for multiple programs of an organization, with attention to detail
• Very organized
• Data entry speed and accuracy
• Willingness to both exercise judgment and ask questions
• Ability to quickly learn new programs and technology
• Ability to learn and work independently, and creatively solve problems
• Interest in charities
• Positive personality a plus
