General Description
This position is non-exempt. Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions will apply.
- Please note that this is a part-time position that is not eligible for benefits, and veteran's preference does not apply.
Primary Duties
- Set-up/remove sports equipment and provide exceptional customer service.
- May assist in set up for events such as stacking chairs, moving tables, sweeping, etc.
- Provides public information about park rules and regulations; and monitors related conformance.
- Performs regular maintenance duties to maintain a safe environment (e.g., onsite cleaning, cleaning & monitoring of bathrooms, trash removal, maintaining logs, signage, and minor repairs.)
- Enforces City and department rules, policies, and procedures with the general public.
- Inspects the grounds and surrounding areas; and reports conditions, hazards, or practices that may pose a threat to health and/or safety.
- Responds to emergencies in accordance with safety policy and procedures and completes incident reports as required. Treats minor accidents and completes all paperwork/documentation including incident reports.
- Maintains the health and safety of all users of the facilities and all employees.
- Receives inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility; and, when necessary, forwards information to the appropriate Parks & Recreation personnel.
- Wears appropriate attire or uniform for daily activities.
- Operates a small utility vehicle (e.g. gator/golf cart) or operates and carries a department cell phone and/or handheld radio depending on assigned area of responsibility.
- Follows daily schedules and assigned rotations.
- Works rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No experience required. However, able to organize, communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing), and follow detailed instructions.
- Prefer knowledge of recreation sports, scoring, and basic first aid. Current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR and First Aid or comparable/higher level may be provided.)
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
In some cases, an equivalent combination of higher education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field.
Essential Physical Functions & Environmental Conditions
Continual light work. May be required to sit for long periods of time.- Lifts 30 pounds without assistance.
- Moderate to frequent walking, standing, stooping, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and pulling.
- Good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Good eyesight, hearing and speech.
- Regular driving of vehicle.
Work Environment
Works inside in an environmentally controlled space part of the time; and will also work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat/cold) for extended periods of time. Exposed to various elements including sunlight, bright/dim lights, dust/pollen, noise, and moving vehicles and machinery. It is essential that the Parks and Recreation Attendant is alert to potential safety hazards within their area of service.
