Position: Parks Maintenance Worker - Seasonal
Department: Parks & Recreation
Salary: $12.00/Hr
Under general supervision and instruction this position assists in the maintenance of county parks and facilities.
Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Must have current valid driver's license and ability to obtain license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
- Must have some experience in operation of tractors, mowers, hand and power tools
- Knowledge of park and grounds maintenance methods and materials
- Knowledge of playground maintenance principles
- Knowledge of athletic field maintenance principles
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Skill in the use of a variety of grounds maintenance tools and equipment
- Skill in problem solving
- Skill in interpersonal relations
- Skill in oral and written communication
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs janitorial duties; cleans and restocks restrooms
- Participates in the maintenance of county parks, athletic fields and related facilities; performs turf management duties; prepares athletic fields for play
- Trims, removes and provides care for trees, bushes and ornamental plants
- Installs and maintains landscaping
- Removes litter and debris from playgrounds, parking lots, pavilions and other park facilities
- Assists in the repair and maintenance of swimming pools and water parks
- Ensures work is performed in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations
- Maintains inventory and reorders supplies as needed
- Assists in preparing for tournaments, special events and programs
- Inspects playgrounds and reports maintenance needs to supervisor
- Performs minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
