We expect to fill two vacancies at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.

FOR GS-5:
You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: assisted and/or worked under the direct supervision of a higher graded employee performing duties that required the basic knowledge of land management programs, natural or cultural history, fish or wildlife habitat characteristics, techniques of resource protection and use, recreational use of lands, enforcement of regulations, or fire prevention techniques and/or fire suppression methods; operated basic tools required to perform maintenance; used a computer to type, record, and/or retrieve data.

Education: completed four years of study above high school leading to a bachelor`s degree with 24 semester/36 quarter hours in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education. (transcripts required)
FOR GS-7:
You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: administered operations, such as day-to-day operation of a recreation site, which involved onsite decisions and judgments; made surveys to locate or collect various types of information, such as soil erosion, deer transects, and water or air quality, that require the application of judgment and knowledge of particular program areas; provided clear information to supervisors, co-workers, and the public on land management programs, natural or cultural history, fish or wildlife habitat characteristics, techniques of resource protection and use, recreational use of Federal lands, enforcement of Federal regulations, and/or fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods.

Education: completed one full academic year of graduate level education in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained while pursuing a degree in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled to include completing four years of study above high school leading to a bachelor`s degree with 24 semester/36 quarter hours in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
For the GS-7 grade level: Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Physical Demands: The work is performed moslty outdoors in ruged terrain; to include very steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rock surfaces. The position requries physical exertion such as, but not limited to, driving over unpaved roads, walking over rough terrain or inclines, standing ro long periods of time, bending, crouching and stooping, digging, hiking, lifting, biking, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Work may involve early morning hours, night hours, or daytime hours and may require working on holidays. It can require carrying heavy backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads.
Work Environment: Most work will be performed out of doors, in all types of weather condtions, terrain, and elevations. Work may take place in an extremely remote environment and may require primitive camping and living skills for upwards of two weeks in duration. Indoor duties are performed in a normal office setting.Education: If using education to qualify, you must submit copies of all transcripts or a list of college courses that include hours and grades from an accredited U.S. college/university.
