The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is recruiting to fill a 26 – week seasonal full time Recreational Ranger position in the Eastern Region of Maine in the Bangor office.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is critical to the Eastern Region in the performance of recreational support functions. The Eastern Region has over 100 miles of hiking trails, 200 campsites, and a variety of other recreational opportunities. Using their knowledge and passion for the environment, the successful candidate will help to maintain and protect the land, water areas, buildings, and other physical facilities on public lands and day use areas in the Eastern Region.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Cleaning and general maintenance of campsites
- Preserving/maintaining hiking trails and trail heads
- Maintaining boat launch facilities
- Enforcing Public Lands rules and regulations to ensure the safety of the environment, facilities, and Public Land users.
- Ability to operate chainsaws, hand tools, power boats, 4x4 pickup truck, ATV's, etc.
- Ability to work independently, outside in all types of weather, in a remote setting.
- Meeting and greeting the public and providing information concerning public lands facilities and rules and other related information in order to advise the public.
- Writes reports and compiles information for the Regional Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year of experience in park maintenance and operation or equivalent.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class):Valid Class C Maine motor vehicle operator’s license.
