Become a City of Grand Junction Municipal Park Ranger:
The ideal candidate would be an Ambassador for the Grand Junction Police Department by providing information to the public regarding parking regulations, and the location of streets, buildings, and points of interest. A Municipal Park Ranger patrols City parks, trails, facilities, and buildings to promote compliance with City Ordinances, parking rules and regulations.

Duties
What You'll Do:
- Patrol City parks, trails, facilities, and buildings by motorized vehicle, bicycle, e-bike, or on foot to ensure compliance with City ordinances, parking rules, and regulations.
- Exercise judgment and independent action within departmental and legal constraints to deter criminal and other undesirable activity.
- Respond to calls regarding parking violations and complaints.
- Write warnings and citations for illegally parked vehicles.
- Ability to process, boot and tow vehicles as needed.
- Help with other community related events and assignments as needed.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of the City's ordinances and laws.
- Use electronic devices to issue citations and look up information.
- Capable of working in extreme cold, heat, and high wind conditions for extended periods.
- Maintain professionalism when dealing with upset or angry citizens.
- Possess good writing skills.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade plus one year of experience in public recreation, security, or related field, or the desire to work in law enforcement.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, Colorado Driver's License.
- Good physical condition and ability to be exposed to hot weather conditions.
- Good moral character (past criminal history may be disqualifying).
- Must be 19 years of age by date of hire.
- Successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen required.
- Any felony investigation or conviction.
- Any conviction for a crime of violence, specifically assaults, domestic violence, etc.
- Any conviction for a "hate crime" such as ethnic intimidation.
- Perjury conviction.
- Any theft conviction regardless of value of item.
- Theft from current employer or a previous employer.
- Drug use (including marijuana) and/or current alcohol abuse.
- An alcohol or drug conviction including but not limited to DUI/DWAI, depending on recency.
- Hit and run accident conviction.
- Being under or having been under driving restraint, cancelation, suspension or revocation of driving privileges in Colorado or any other state.
