Work Calendar: HourlyFTE: 0.7375 (29.5 Hours per Week)Contract Status: Non-ContractFLSA Status: Non- ExemptReports To: Assistant Principal Starting Wage: $ 17.50 hourlySalary Schedule/Lane: 86/LBenefits: Not EligibleAnticipated Start Date: 03/04/2024Priority Screen Date: Open Until Filled________________________________________________________________________ Positions Available: One Vacancy JOB SUMMARYThe job of Paraprofessional I is to assist assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of students, and performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAll positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:High school diploma or equivalent.Per Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), interested applicants must be Highly Qualified to be considered for the position and have completed one of the following:completed at least two years at an accredited higher education institution (minimum 48 semester hours), orobtained an associates (or higher) degree from an accredited higher education institution, orsatisfied a rigorous state or local assessment (Parapro Assessment/PRAXIS ETS) with a score of 460 or higher.The higher education institution official transcripts, or college diploma, or a copy of the Paraprofessional Assessment must be provided with your application or upon a contingent offer of employment.Speak, read, write, present professionally, analyze, and interpret written and verbal communications in English.

Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.Knowledgeable of age-appropriate activities; stages of child development; classroom management techniques; and development of effective lesson plans.Ability to administer first aid; apply assessment instruments; prepare and maintain accurate records.Ability to lead small groups; learn through play; communicate orally and in writing; and adhere to safety practices.Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others.Able to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment.Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate physical education equipment and playground activities using standardized methods.Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment.Ability to identify issues and create action plans for the purpose of problem solving.Ability to independently interpret guidelines; communicate with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; set priorities; work as part of a team; work with frequent interruptions; adapt to changing work priorities; and be attentive to detail.Ability to work under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget.Ability to utilize resources from other work units to meet goals and objectives.Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment.Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESAdapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher and provides a method to support and/or reinforce lesson plans.Administer tests and evaluations, under supervision of teacher (e.g.

DRA, DIBELS, observational data for IEP goals, etc.) monitors student progress.Assists other personnel as required and needed (e.g. instructors, site administration, other para professionals, etc.) ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.Confers with teachers assisting in evaluating student progress and/or implementing student objectives.Implement students' learning and behavior plans to meet students' social and behavioral interventions, health care plans, and/or ensuring compliance with IEPs.Monitor individual students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, library, playground activities, field trip, bus boarding and exiting, etc.) providing a safe and positive learning environment.Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g.

scheduling, copying, data recording, etc.) to support the teacher and administrator.Provides appropriate classroom intervention with students under the Teacher's direction (e.g. booster groups, individual instruction, small group instruction, etc.) improving student learning and academic success.Prepare teaching materials and related reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.Report incidents (e.g.

fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, administrative and/or school policies.Participates in various meetings, workshops for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively. EMPLOYEE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No OTHER FUNCTIONSPerforms other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity.

Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. This job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
