Paralegal/Legal Assistant

We are a small AV® rated litigation firm seeking to hire a motivated, enthusiastic Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support the four (4) trial lawyers in our N. Bethesda/Rockville office. The schedule is flexible and we will consider those interested in full-time or part-time employment.

Qualifications: Communication, writing, typing, verbal, and strong computer (must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe DC) skills are imperative. Familiarity with Lexis or comparable research methodology is a plus. In addition the ideal candidate must be eager to learn, have good technical abilities, people skills, analytical and organizational skills and possess a positive, friendly attitude. You must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize tasks, take initiative to solve problems, and operate efficiently in a fast-paced deadline oriented environment.

Duties include, among other things: (1) assisting in drafting correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, motions, discovery & other legal documents; (2) assisting in the filing of pleadings and papers (including E-filing) for all Maryland, D.C. and Virginia courts; (3) assisting in maintaining attorneys’ litigation calendars including the scheduling and entering all dates from court Scheduling Orders and/or other deadlines as mandated by the courts on Outlook, (4) maintaining and organizing files, (5) assisting with trial preparation including document production, preparing exhibits and organization of materials; (6) managing the development and organization of large document production (though the use of PDF tools including combining files and Bates Stamp, etc.); (7) Drafting discovery papers; (8) drafting subpoenas and other papers, to obtain medical records ; (9) assisting in Time Entry (using timeslips and quickbooks) & Phone duties as needed.
